FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — 06/09/26
CHICAGO — Marmon Rail today announced the appointment of Jay McGill as President of Transco Rail Services. In this role, McGill will lead the unified repair organization that brings together UTLX Field Services, Procor Field Services, and Transco Fixed Repair Shops across North America.
McGill assumed the presidency on April 1 as successor to Bob Nelson, who retired from Transco earlier this month after more than two decades leading Transco and the broader repair services organization. Under Nelson’s leadership, Transco achieved significant growth and operational excellence, earning Marmon’s Chairman’s Award for excellence recognition in 2024. Nelson was also named Marmon Leader of the Year earlier this year.
“Bob has played an instrumental role in the growth and extraordinary success of the Transco business,” said Chris Hagge, President, Marmon Railyard and Repair Services. “His leadership has positioned the organization for long-term success, and we are grateful for his many contributions to the business and our customers.”
Hagge added, “Jay brings a deep understanding of the rail services industry, a proven track record of operational leadership, and extensive experience driving growth across North America. His focus on safety, customer service, innovation, and team development makes him exceptionally well-positioned to lead Transco Rail Services into its next chapter.”
McGill has served in positions of increasing responsibility within Marmon Rail since 2015 and currently serves as President, Repair Services, Mobile & On-Site Services within Transco Rail Services. In that role, he oversees mobile and on-site repair operations, with responsibility for more than 100 service locations across the United States and Canada, and more than 1,000 employees.
Throughout his career with Marmon Rail, UTLX and Procor, McGill has led significant operational expansion initiatives, including growing the North American field services network from 86 to 104 service locations and delivering substantial revenue growth across both U.S. and Canadian markets. He has also been instrumental in developing integrated operating structures across North America and advancing innovative mobile railcar maintenance and tank cleaning technologies.
Prior to his current role, McGill served as Vice President & General Manager, North American Field Services and Vice President & General Manager, North American Repair Sales for Marmon Rail. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions with Procor Limited, Progress TransCanada Rail, and VAE Nortrak.
“I’m excited to take on this role and build upon the strong foundation Bob and the Transco team have established,” said Jay McGill. “Transco Rail Services has an outstanding reputation across the industry for safety, reliability, technical expertise, and customer service. I look forward to working alongside our teams across North America as we continue to grow and deliver value for our customers.”
